Daily, our plants are growing and increasing in biomass. Biomass is the total mass of organisms in a given area. As a whole are garden is growing very rapidly, from the small seeds we planted them as, to the mature plants they are today. Thanks to wonders of mitosis, cellular respiration, and photosynthesis, it makes the miracle of plant growth possible. Mitosis is a process in which cells are divided creating two identical daughter cells. Mitosis is responsible for the reproduction of cells, therefore; responsible for the growth of an organism. Cellular respiration is what a process the cell undergoes to break down sugars to create ATP, a chemical used for energy. Cellular respiration gives the cell energy which in turn makes it possible the cell perform mitosis. A close "relative" to cellular respiration is photosynthesis, the same reaction chemical reaction just in reverse. Photosynthesis is the process by which carbon dioxide, water, and other chemicals are converted into glucose. With the correct combo of these three processes, it creates a thriving and growing plant.
When a plant is in need of more enzymes, the DNA will be duplicated as RNA. This RNA is like instructions for the ribosome to build a new proteins. Once it reaches the start and end codon, the protein will be completed and released into the cell. These proteins such as enzymes are useful in many cell processes such as cell division.
